Psychedelics are changing the way we see therapy and every person is unique in the way they approach it. If you see value in psychedelics helping you reach deeper insights, more sustained progress in symptom reduction or a positive way to look at your world, let's explore ways in which Whole Brain Psychotherapy can support through partnership with physicians.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic modality in which ketamine is prescribed and monitored by medical doctors as a complement to psychotherapy to enhance the neurobiological landscape by which trauma reprocessing work and psycho-emotional breakthroughs are more possible and symptom reduction is better sustained. Whole Brain Psychotherapy provides the mental health support for eligible clients while a medical doctors from Journey Clinical support all medical needs throughout this process, this includes determining eligibility, treatment, prescription and monitoring outcomes.
What is this medicine?
Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD. It has rapidly acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, which can begin to take effect within 1-2 hours after treatment. It works on the glutamate system by blocking the brain’s NMDA receptors as well as by stimulating AMPA receptors, which are thought to help form new synaptic connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood. This medicine resets the client's "default mode," which is often filled with negative thoughts, feelings or behavioral drives for those living with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, OCD or forms of rigid thinking, thus when reset, the client is in a position to create new thoughts and feelings as ketamine has been shown to enhance overall neuroplasticity.
Ketamine can be administered in a variety of ways, including IV infusion, intramuscular injection, via nasal spray and using sublingual lozenges. In collaboration with Journey Clinical, G. Phoebe's clients only use the sublingual lozenge form. Phoebe primarily assists clients using anxiolytic dose in individual therapy, but is open to working with clients prescribed full-dissociative doses for longer sessions lasting 2-3 hours in individual, group or retreat settings.
